How to prepare for PMP Exam (New Format 2022) - Introduction:

Hello and welcome! If you are reading this post, there is a 99% chance that you are preparing for or thinking of achieving the prestigious Project Management Professional (PMP) certification and associated tips to prepare for the PMP exam in 2022 in it’s new format and syllabus (People, Process & Business Environment). And surely, you want to pass it in first attempt!Well, congratulations!
You have found one of the most important resources for fast tracking your preparation for the PMP exam: Going through the personal experiences, preparation, strategy, and frameworks of a recently successful PMP certified project manager…myself.
So, let me start with my introduction… My name is Nilotpal Ray (you can call me just ‘Ray’) and I work with National Health Service (NHS), UK as a Project Manager (LinkedIn Profile). I have 10+ years of project management experience and I have achieved my PMP certification recently…super proud moment for me! Check out my homepage here and follow me on YouTube. Below is a snapshot of my PMP certificate. I can’t wait to see YOUR NAME on it once you have successfully cleared the exam!

How I can help for your PMP exam prep?

Guys, when I started preparing for my PMP examination, I found one major gap:

Access to the first-hand experience of successful exam takers.

I could find loads of materials on the internet (e-books, online courses, webinars, exam simulators, etc.)…

MIND-BOGGLING!

Even loads of free mock questions! But, it was difficult for me to find someone (a friend, colleague or mentor) who can actually share how it is like to write the exam, tips & tricks, preparation strategy, etc. to PASS the exam on the first attempt. Moreover, I did not find the Project Management Body of Knowledge – PMBOK® Guide – Sixth Edition (2017) an easy read!
I hope you guys are aware that the PMP exam is one of the toughest certification exams in the industry! Don’t believe me? Click here to check. Maybe that is even fair! Because, PMP certified project managers get paid at least 20%-30% more than non-PMP project managers (check how much you can earn as a PMP certified PM here). With an approx. 15.7 million new Project Management job opportunities coming up and the industry growing by $6.1 trillion by 2030 (PMI Talent Gap: Project management through 2030) , the potential waiting to be untapped is immense. And that makes the need for a PMP certification more relevant and valued.

Now let me tell you this…and I am talking from first-hand experience…

During your prep for PMP exam to pass it in first attempt, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you find someone who has actually passed the exam and get the experiential learning or mentorship from him/her. It gives an IMMENSE edge to your preparation!

Books, online courses, webinars, etc. form 80% of the preparation. I agree. However, the final 20% comes from mentorship and experiential learning, and THAT’S WHAT CREATES THE DIFFERENCE! (Remember Pareto’s 80:20 principle?)
Luckily, with much effort, I was able to find someone (PMP® certified) to help me with coaching, but he appeared for the exam 5 years back and the exam structure, syllabus and pattern were not relevant to me anymore (more on this later…). Hence, I realized one thing! There is a serious gap of effective & relevant mentorship in the PMP® exam aspirant community. And that’s what I am going to address here by sharing my experience on how to prepare for the PMP exam and how I passed it in my first attempt.
My way of mentoring potential PMP aspirants!
